FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TANSTAAFL Press Now a Going Concern Yelm, Washington – March 6, 2013 - Approximately one year ago, Tom Gondolfi founded the independent publishing company TANSTAAFL Press.  It was a first step towards self-publishing, and ultimately, an opportunity for both known and yet unknown science fiction authors.   The business name is an acronym for “there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch”, a phrase popularized by the famed sci-fi author Robert Heinlein. The phrase is fitting for the company, evolving from the founder’s desire to provide value as a published author to those enjoying science fiction.   Mr. Gondolfi, family man and self-professed Renaissance man, has been writing fiction for over 30 years.  Tom Gondolfi decided to transition from his engineering profession in high tech with a couple books he had already written but never published.   Mr. Gondolfi is amongst many writers who are adopting the trend of self-publishing.  As a parallel to freelancers creating their own job market, self-publishers are carving space in fiction genres, specialized print and informational texts.  As of 2009, 79% of all books released were self-published. TANSTAAFL Press is more than just self-publishing.  Currently representing two authors, and with a business plan to publish additional prolific authors, this small publishing house is looking to grow.  In stride, they have acquired a fantastic cover illustrator, negotiated printing costs for trade paperbacks, and handle all their own marketing efforts.  Realizing that exposure is a priority, the company is lined up to appear at gaming conventions and host book launch parties. Additionally the dynamic CEO is actively engaging in both traditional and alternate marketing opportunities. To promote TANSTAAFL Press’ new works of fiction and showcasing debuting authors, the company is currently reaching out to independent booksellers in both traditional sales or consignment opportunities. Small bookstores interested in carrying local authors or small print science fiction are encouraged to contact the publisher.  A book seller can also attend a book launch party hosted by the publisher to learn more about recently released titles. TANSTAAFL Press also encourages requests for author signings, book readings and other personal appearances. Details can be found on the website -- www.TANSTAAFLPress.com.
